My work – colours and stitches

Textile Pictures

I create original free motion embroideries for you, for your home, as gifts, and as heirlooms for the future. I love the slightly naive quality that free machine embroidery has, and the way the stitches build up a unique character in each piece of work.

My designs are focused on colour and their relationships with each other, and with us, and I am very careful and deliberate about the different fabrics and threads I use.

My aim with every embroidery is to create a picture that will be enjoyed by someone for many years to come. I like to make something that will last for a long time and although I think my abstract style is fresh and modern, I hope it will age gracefully, because stitches seem to have an inherent 'traditionalness'.

My pictures are sometimes one off inspirations, and sometimes they might belong to a group, or series of works, that share a common idea or theme. My inspiration comes from the world around me, which is a quite, rural, beautiful place; full of friends and adventures and fun. Leaves, flowers in the garden, things seen at the seaside, in the hills, from my kayak, on a motorbike ride, patterns in nature, colour combinations in people's clothes or in magazines, all give me ideas that I store up and explore later on when sat at my sewing machine.

The collection is ever changing, growing, so please keep coming back to see what's new! Or join the mailing list to be kept up to date the easy way.
